Are you ready to fall in love with this couple, Gedney Farm and their wedding day? I am in love all of three of these things AND the incredible golden light we had during portraits. Everything was so beautiful and I loved capturing the day for Melanie and Jay who are so obviously in love.
I’m sure there are many who are planning their wedding who would love to hear from Melanie and Jay about how they came to make the choices to create a day as exquisite as this!
Here are some of Melanie’s answers to the questions I asked her:
What inspired you to pick your venue?
I’ve always wanted the barn theme wedding and Gedney Farm had it all! They had lodging on-site, additional accommodations for guest close by, food in-house (no need for outside caterer), and they had the most beautiful property!
Can you share one unforgettable moment on your wedding day?
My favorite moment from the day was walking up to the ceremony knoll and seeing Jay for the first time. It’s the moment I had been looking forward to the most and it didn’t disappoint!
What advice would you give couples currently planning their wedding day that you wish you had known?
I wish I didn’t stress so much. I was very stressed 2-3 weeks before the wedding and it was totally unnecessary, I should’ve relaxed those 2-3 weeks before because day-of things always come together!
I also wish I had a video. People kept telling me that you only watch a wedding video once or twice so it isn’t worth the money but since the day goes by so quickly I wish I had one to help me relive every moment! Especially moments like our vows, our first dance, dances with our parents, speeches, etc.
What is a detail that you are really happy you spent the time and/or money on?
I spent a lot of time researching my vendors and looking up reviews and I’m so happy I did this because each one of my vendors was AMAZING! I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to help make my day so special!!!
What was one of your favorite compliments from a guest about your wedding?
A lot of my guests complimented our ceremony and said great things about our officiant and the view from the knoll. Hearing this made me so happy because more than anything it was important to me that our ceremony felt true to who we are as a couple and I think our guests recognized that and learned even more about us as a couple in that short 25 minutes.
What was your favorite wedding planning resource?
The Knot! And I also used Google Docs/Sheets to help me plan everything and keep track of all my notes and details!
