The Space
Couples are always searching for unique wedding venues in the Berkshires. Mass MoCA, located in North Adams, Massachusetts is a reconstructed factory turned art museum. This popular art destination has the capability to host small micro weddings of 25 to large gatherings of up to 400. It has non-traditional ceremony and reception spaces scattered throughout and the original windows allow for a naturally lit space. Exposed brick and ductwork give an industrial vibe and there are endless galleries of art connected by indoor bridges. With changing exhibitions, every wedding will have unique photographs.
The Art
For the minimalist wedding… take portraits through arched brick doorways. Check out the neutral layers of watercolors in Building 6 Portrait: Interior painted by Barbara Ernst Prey.
For the eclectic wedding… have your first look in the vast mazes of interior walls featuring the geometric, bright, and colorful work of Sol LeWitt.
For the moody wedding… Pose in the dark corners of this museum or in the In Harmonicity, The Tonal Walkway; an unlit bridge that connects two parts of the museum and plays a soundtrack of different tones. Artist Julianne Swartz creates art for the ears.
For the ceremony… say “I do” under the Cosmic Latte. Spencer Finch’s Gallery has over 150 LED lights arranged to feel like the Milky Way.
For the reception… Eat and drink at one long table in front of Hello America: 40 Hits front the 50 States by Joe Wardwel.
