David and Steve, aka The Berks Sirs, have fully embraced life in the Berkshires, and honestly, it’s impossible not to smile when you’re around them. Their Instagram bio says it best: “Just a couple sirs enjoying living in the Berkshires!” And enjoy it, they do.
They have spent every summer since 2010 in the Berkshires, but they made the leap to full-time life here in 2020, and never looked back. I met them recently, and within minutes, I could feel how much they genuinely love it here. Their enthusiasm is magnetic.
As a wedding photographer, I talk to so many couples and families who love the Berkshires but still wonder: “ Is there enough going on? Could I live here full time?” David and Steve are the perfect answer to that question. Not only have they renovated a house from the studs up (it’s now a total stunner, by the way), but they also rent it out as an Airbnb while spending summers working at Belvoir Terrace: a sleepaway arts summer camp in Lenox.
When not working at camp, David is a travel agent who specializes in Disney destinations and cruises (@DisneybyDavid) He recently co-hosted a season of “Food Tours” highlighting Disneyland and Universal Studios for Insider Food’s YouTube channel. Belvoir is lucky enough to borrow Steve’s directing talents during the summer if he’s not working on a Broadway show or National Tour. This summer Steve is directing A Bronx Tale at the Mac-Haydn Theatre, just over the border in Chatham, NY. Steve was the Associate Director of the Broadway production, 1st National Tour, as well as the Tour Director for the 2nd National Tour. In the Fall, Steve is directing the 2nd National Tour of Mrs. Doubtfire and then heads to Düsseldorf to launch the German production.
So if you’re curious about full-time Berkshire life or just want a dose of joyful energy, I highly recommend giving @The_Berk_Sirs a follow. You’ll see exactly what I mean.
