Photographing Katie and Noah’s wedding felt like a homecoming to old friends. I’ve gotten to know (and have photographed) Katie’s extended family over the years through her Aunt and my friend Tammy, so being part of their wedding day felt personal and full of heart.
I loved hearing how Katie and Noah met in high school and stayed together through years of long distance. Katie attended Boston College and Noah was serving in the military and despite these obstacles, their connection was unmistakable. Photographing them didn’t feel like work; it felt like documenting something beautiful, honest and effortless.
Their bridal party, made up mostly of cousins, brought a lighthearted, close-knit family energy to the day. The Lake House Guest Cottages on Pontoosuc Lake set a perfect scene, with just the right breeze and a sunset that appeared at exactly the right time.
Katie and Noah told me their first dance stood out most. To them, it felt like the world faded away, even with everyone watching. Another favorite moment was stepping away for sunset portraits, taking a quiet breath together by the water as the light softened.
The reception tent was filled with classic New England summer touches, blue hydrangeas, white and gold accents, and the sound of “Here Comes the Sun” as they walked down the aisle, right as the sun began to shine.
Their advice to other couples? Katie recommends getting a head start on planning, and Noah encourages finding moments throughout the day to focus on each other. His suggestion to share a private last dance is one I’ll be passing along to future couples, they felt like it was such a meaningful way to close out the day.
Lisa and I were honored to be there to capture it all from the big, joyful family moments to the quiet ones that showed their incredible connection. Katie and Noah, thank you for choosing me – it meant the world to me to be there.
