WEDDING POSTPONED DUE TO CORONAVIRUS: CATHERINE AND RINO’S STORY

Today I wanted to feature Catherine and Rino on my blog. They’ve been on my mind frequently, as this past weekend would have been their wedding. Like many couples who were getting married this spring, the lead up to deciding to postpone was stressful. I really wanted to celebrate them by sharing pictures from their engagement session this fall in Kennedy Park. To accompany the pictures, I asked Catherine and Rino if they wouldn’t mind sharing a little of their story leading up to the decision to reschedule. It might even help couples who are going through this right now. Catherine shared in her own words their story and and admitted to me she got emotional writing it!

” While we were closing in on our one-month countdown to our April 4th, 2020 wedding, the stress began to elevate. Partially because I had high expectations of everything working out perfectly, but also my fear of the effects the virus could have on our wedding. The thought of having to postpone our big day felt like a nightmare. Things started to fall apart when my fiancé’s family had to cancel their trip to the US from Italy for our wedding. They would be traveling to share in the wonderful memory of our special moment and we had always envisioned them there. Just under 4 weeks from our wedding, all flights from Italy were terminated. While heart broken, we figured the wedding must carry on so I scrambled to alter plans without them.

At just three weeks from the wedding, things started to get much more serious as the Coronavirus began to spread rapidly. Government officials now were putting restrictions in place here in Massachusetts. Immediately I felt overwhelmed with disappointment that everything we had been planning for months would have to be changed to a new date.

Before I could overwhelm myself with thoughts of pity, I decided to reel things in. I reminded myself of all we have to be grateful for. Whether it’s today, tomorrow, or 9 months from now, I still get to marry the love of my life! Plus, we won’t have to risk the lives of our wonderful supportive loving family and friends. Just like that, things didn’t feel so bad.

I began reaching out to our vendors with plans to postpone the wedding. Within a few short hours I was able to find a new date that worked for everyone! All our vendors were so understanding and supportive. This was a true testament that we had hand selected the best companies to work with for our wedding. We couldn’t have been more relieved.

Moving forward, we are just as excited to get married on our new wedding date of November 28th, 2020. Since we were only 3 weeks away from the original date, we have almost everything planned and paid for. We are so relieved that things were able to work out and all our family and friends can remain safe.  We pray that our community gets through this soon and stronger than ever. Thank you to all the front line workers who are working so hard to keep us safe!!

Thank you for sharing your story with us on the blog! We cannot wait to celebrate in November with you!
