A few weeks ago, on the most perfect fall day imaginable, I had the pleasure of photographing my friend Alana and her fiancé Tobias. Alana and I met years ago when she began as an intern for our department at Monster.com. She was in college then, so in a way, I feel as though I’ve watched her grow up into the beautiful person she is now. She is smart, resourceful, fun and gorgeous and so I know she is deserving only of the best.

When I met Tobi earlier this year I was struck by what a gentleman he was. He walked me and a friend to our car and wouldn’t leave us until he knew we were safely on our way. I felt happy knowing that Alana had met such a gentleman.

When I met with Alana and Tobi in lower Manhattan to take their engagement photos, I had the opportunity to hear more about the story about how they became a couple. Knowing Alana as I do, I know she loves to travel and so it seems so fitting that she and Tobi had their first date in Germany. Alana was there on business and met Tobi who worked there for the same company. When he heard Alana wanted to go exploring, he volunteered to be her tour guide. So on a beautiful fall day they spent hours touring the countryside and castles together and they’ve been together since.

Now they were giving me a tour of their ferry commute to their home in Jersey City. Together we were able to take in the NYC skyline as the sun was setting. This combined with Alana and Tobias’ chemistry made for a memorable engagement shoot that I’m totally smitten with. 

I can’t wait for their wedding day in June. I cry at most weddings I photograph, but I know this will be one to pack extra tissues. They truly are such a wonderful couple.
