I’ve been waiting for the right time to post this Winter Styled Shoot. I figure the day when most of New England and coastal New Jersey and New York is snowed in, might be a perfect time. The day these images were taken was so creative, so unique and a ton of fun. I especially loved the collaboration of artists including fellow photographer and friend, Sandra Costello as well as Tanya Costigan, Liz Washer, Grace Leathrum, Bonnie Aunchman, Jenursa and Lani Gillooly.
Everything about this shoot from makeup to wardrobe to tablescapes was different than my typical style and that made it an exciting opportunity. I think Liz Washer described the inspiration perfectly in her own blogpost, so I’ll quote her here:
“….the photoshoot was all about juxtaposition: what would it look like if a pair of rough-around-the-edges, urbanite musician lovebirds got hitched in the bucolic, beautiful Berkshires? The Mount in Lenox, Massachusetts – aka the Edith Wharton estate – was the perfect fit: not only are the house and grounds stunningly beautiful (even in February, when our shoot took place), but the theme of contrast is evident throughout Wharton’s writing, as well as her own life. She was the beneficiary of an upper class upbringing AND one of its most vocal critics, so we felt inspired to incorporate hints of an underground movement that sought to challenge the social elite (chiefly, the punk rock movement of 1970′s London) – and we like to think she’d approve!”
I hope you enjoy exploring these winter wedding images, as you can see any look for your wedding is possible with the right inspiration, a talented team and a venue that thrives in all seasons!
