I couldn’t be more excited to post about a couple who truly deserved a perfect day. Amy and Patrick didn’t look at, nor consider another venue, it was simply The Mount or elopement. This wedding was elegant, timeless, and so much fun! I am so honored I got to be alongside you on this journey. It truly was worth the wait.
When COVID-19 put a halt to their original wedding plans, they could not have been more understanding and patient as a couple. They handled the stress of change, the unknown, and the disappointment with such a level of compassion, I was blown away. On their original wedding date, June 20, 2020, we got together for “Corona” inspired shoot. Amy and Patrick went above and beyond to help support my small business during 2020. They even came up and took headshots with me with the studio, when my wedding schedule was put into a tailspin.
Amy and Patrick’s favorite part of the day was their first look/private exchange of vows. It was just the two of them in the Limestone walk. Having a moment, alone, was very important to them. Amy and her Dad walked down the steps to Edelweiss, a song they sang many times together on long car rides and the same song he walked her sister down the aisle to. When she reached the bottom, the music changed to Here Comes the Sun for her walk to Patrick. On their original wedding date, their friends put together a video of them all singing Here Comes the Sun.
The details of Amy and Patrick’s wedding were stunning and honored the mastermind of the venue, Edith Wharton. One of Amy’s favorite Covid purchases was an antique Corona (how appropriate a name) typewriter which she used to type Edith Wharton quotes for the cocktail tables. They purchased vintage Edith Wharton classic books to use as display (and read during the lead up) and Amy folded the pages of one into a heart shape. The favors/table assignments featured locally, hand poured soy candles from a female owned business with their favorite Edith quote. Their head table had two little dog candlesticks to honor Edith’s affinity for dogs and her beloved quote “My little dog— a heartbeat at my feet.”
When Amy and Patrick thanked their guests at dinner, after a year plus of delays, I felt so incredibly happy that this dream day did come true. Everything was complete. Patrick doing the worm, the family singing American Pie, and their grump cat, Sox on top of the cake, it really was everything they deserved. The wedding day was, as Amy put it, “the best day we ever could have imagined.”
