People are always asking me for the names of videographers that I trust and recommend, and I’ve worked with Jamie from JPod Films many times. It’s always such a great experience—he’s helpful, he works well with us as photographers, and most importantly, his clients love him.
Jamie produced this video about my photo booth last year and it was a great experience. Click HERE
I was recently watching my own wedding video from years ago with my boys, and a special dance between with my mother and my grandfather brought all of us to tears . My mother has passed recently and her father, “Papa”, 6 years ago. I was overcome with such gratitude that my videographer had captured this and that I could witness these two in motion, especially now when I miss them so much. That feeling resonated as advice I’d give my own clients, so I thought I would take the time to celebrate videography, and therefore I reached out to Jamie for a one-on-one interview.

Tricia: What is unique about the service you provide?
Jamie: I think our product truly captures the personalities of our couples. It’s one thing to film all of the major moments of the wedding day, but it’s another to extract the anticipation, excitement and personality of the wedding day. I think our films truly bring back the emotion and feeling from the day.
What do you love most about working in the Berkshires?
The character of the Berkshires is unmatched. From mansions and barns to mountains and farms, there is so much character in the venues and landscape of the area. I feel like our creativity really shines when we film in the Berkshires.
What is a reoccurring description of your work?
My two favorite compliments of our work that many people will tell us is that, first, they cry watching other people’s weddings that they don’t even know. If we can make our couples feel the emotions of someone else’s wedding day, then you can only imagine what their feelings will be like when it is their day. The second compliment that I love to hear is that people didn’t even notice we were there. Yes, we will be around and working directly with the couple at times, but we want to try and capture the day as unobtrusively as possible.
Tell me what you love most about providing your service for weddings.
That’s simple. There is nothing like going to work at a place where everyone is having a great time. But more importantly, delivering a final product that our clients and their families will treasure for years and years to come is priceless.
What wedding videography trends are you seeing as most popular so far in 2016?
The most popular trends that I am seeing are shorter final films, as our 9–12 minute film has overtaken our 20–25 minute film in popularity. Secondly, the same-day edit continues to grow in popularity, as seeing an instant highlight film of your wedding day and going home with that memory on the night of the wedding is a priceless commodity.
What advice would you give a bride and groom about the wedding planning process?
First, add a minimum of 30 minutes to the hair and make-up schedule. If you want to be done at 11:30am, tell your artists 11am. So many times, the preparations take longer than expected, and by adding a buffer, you will not be late. The worst thing that can happen is that the bride gets to hang out with the people closest to her for an extra 30 minutes.Secondly, do a first look. Your hair and make-up will be perfect for the most important pictures with your soon to be husband/wife. Unlike in a ceremony, you actually get to have an intimate moment with your partner where you can talk with them when you first meet. The feeling as you walk down the aisle is still the same, because you are walking down to officially be married. And finally, your pictures will be done before the ceremony, so you can enjoy your cocktail hour and limit the amount of time in your reception where you need to greet your guests. That translates to more time to enjoy the party you spent so much time planning.

What is something new that you’d like to do?
Professionally, I am still waiting to film my first professional athlete’s wedding. As a former sportscaster, I think we would be a natural fit for many of the New England sports athletes tying the knot.
Personally, I have a desire to complete an IronMan Triathlon. In my 20s, I completed a half-iron man triathlon, but becoming a true Ironman has always been in my mind as my ultimate fitness goal.
What’s something that many people may not know about you?
I am still waiting for my next labrador retriever. With 3 daughters, my wife and I have decided to take a break from having a dog until we have the appropriate amount of time to invest in one. For me, that time cannot come fast enough…
